PARTS OF MEDICARE
Medicare started in 1966 as a federal health insurance for U.S. citizens age 65+, also for those with end-stage renal disease or other certain disabilities. You pay into this program through your payroll check. You have to work at least 10 years.
4 PARTS OF MEDICARE
Part A-Hospital
This will cover your inpatient stays and procedures. Also covers your skilled nursing benefit. You must be admitted for this to pay.
Part B-Medical
This will cover your outpatient care: Dr visits, therapies, radiological tests (MRI, Ct, Sonograms, etc), outpatient surgeries, ER, ambulance, urgent care and more.
Part C-Medicare Advantage
Offered by private companies, includes Medicare part A & B. Most policies can cover dental, vision, hearing, prescriptions, fitness plans and more. They are set up to have copays, networks, and options to use out of network. Each plan can vary in coverage.
Part D-Drug Coverage
Also offered by private companies, this will cover prescriptions only. They can include deductibles and copays. Medicines will be in Tier groups reflecting their copay amount. Part D plans are usually written in addition to a Medicare Supplement or Original Medicare. They include a coverage gap or donut hole.
